Question: Can someone explain to me why Warren Buffet bought shares in AXTA?

I went through their financials and the p/e is very high, the p/b is high. Their income doesnt look the best to me.. What did he find there that was so special? I’d love an explanation.

Jamie E Farnell-Smith: He will know something others don’t .. With great wealth cones access to a lot of networks, and insight, not available to most 🙂

Axalta Coating Systems Is An Easy Long-Term Consideration

Ahmad Malik: Aaron two reasons, 1st its s habit of mr Buffett to bet in the stocks where in less he can get more stake in the company, so in future he plays with good returns , 2nd, Axalta nanufactures paints for loco motives, cars and fir buses, mr buffett increasing his stakes in automotive industry, he bought BNSF a rail car and Van Tayl, also other stakes in automotive, so Axalta can be good for its end customers where mr Buffett already sitting, but remember its stocks are on higher node right now, wait, hope it helped

Mark Lee: U buy shares, WB buys business. That is the key difference.

Aaron David Tobias: WB buys businesses that he likes. He values the the aspects of what kind of business it is and what it does more then the financials in some cases. thats my conclusion

Kirk Lindstrom: You have to look at the REALLY big picture. WB probably sees a fundamental reason for the revenues and profits of AXTA to go up in the future, perhaps as a fit into his organization or as a future customer of their products where buying the company eliminates the mark up and makes the value of the rest of the company more reasonable.

David Smoot: The secret WB has figured out is that he looks at a security as a equity/bond with a expanding coupon. He realized excellent businesses that benefit from a consumer monopoly that can consistently earn high rates of return on shareholders equity, are often bargain buys even at what seem to be very high P/E ratios.

Mike Bobell: One question that is helpful to ask with Berkshire these days is this: Did Warren Buffet purchase this or was it one of the two new money managers – Ted or Todd?

Mike Bobell: They are also excellent investors, but they are not necessarily traditional value investors and I have heard Buffet say multiple times that they are given complete autonomy.

Dom Pham: I dont think Warren Buffet personally make every purchase decisions.

Kuok Leong Chio: his explanation is simple but not specific enough to invest

Kenee: The coming future of Asia will be celebrating the prosper effect of China, the railway will be linked up at south east Asia that makes locomotives are in great demand

Alexandre Phily: It seems like Berkshire investing stlye is becoming more and more aggressive and drifting away from traditional value investing (i.e the work with 3G capital on Kraft/Heinze’s merger, Burger King/Tim Hortons … ). Don’t know whether the change comes from the new managment team as they take over or from Buffet himself.

Tim Melvin: people that talk about knowing why Warren does things crack me up. Quit worrying abut what Warren is doing . Unless you have billions of cash and almost unlimited insurance float you cant invest like him. You would be better off examining how he got so rich instead of worrying about how many squares of Charmin he uses when he poops.
